So, not to throw a monkey wrench into this thread, but there is a MR-13D.

Nothing better than drilling with a light heart:D

@TorontoBuilder beat me to it.

There are also X's and O's. All waaaaay too expensive.

I like what we are doing. But even if not, I'm already happy with the job the unaltered machine does.

There was talk about the longevity of these machines if you can't get spare grinding wheels in the future.

I was curious about the availability of the motors actually since they're a very rare bird that no vendor on aliexpress carries. I ended up contacting the manufacturer since I thought to build my own end mill grinder. They will sell the motors, but the shipping is not cheap.

Anyone want a spare, or one to build a grinder? $58 bucks
Bump

I asked for revised quote for just two motors, one for me and one for @Susquatch and the price would work out to $81.25 plus GST plus the cost of delivery to SW ON... which in this case would be me driving there so lets say $8.19 for diesel.

That will work for us both I believe.

Since there does not appear to be any other interest I'm just going to order two motors by the end of the week

The cost to order just one motor BTW direct works out to be about $95. The seller quotes everything in USD for some reason.

My sharpener came yesterday but I was unable to get at it so I unpacked today. I'm happy with the machine and the quality is there for sure. I read and followed the directions and was able to sharpen 2 - 1/2" bits and split point without any issues. Did a perfect job on them. I basically left it at 118 degrees and didn't move the pins However, I REALLY would like to be able to sharpen up to 1 inch.
I measured the collet OD and got 1.09 which is too thin for anything bigger, and the next step would be the make a block that could hold a larger collet

So, re-reading the entire thread, I have the links for the ER25 Collet Chuck Holder for MR-20G Grinder. Am I wrong to think that this will not fit into the 13B angled plate, and to use this I would have to construct a larger plate?

This belongs over in the other thread. There is a special Er25 collet holder and collets for bigger drills. The collets are bigger, but not the holes. But not for 1" drills. I doubt the wheel would handle 1" drills anyway. But that's a guess.

On the other hand, @TorontoBuilder and I ordered a plain motor so we can make fixtures, and add wheels whatever size we want.

My apologies, this is where I got the links, but feel free to move it over there. I can ask my questions there.

In order to sharpen up to 26mm drill bits you need to use the Quad grinder... otherwise known as the MR-G3.

It is a MR-13D on one end and the ER40 collet duo system. I plan to make this size... to complete the gap

Thanks TB, I have been watching your work progress, it will be a great benefit. To me 3/4" or 20mm will be good now.
I ordered the MR-20G Grinder collet and hope that will work.

Now I have a dumb question. I had hoped Mr Pete's video would answer it, but no.
When setting the depth of cut for the collet/bit, you are supposed to turn the knob to the size, say 13mm. Referenced to what? mine does not have a stationary arrow or mark on the body at all.

None do. Just pointing to the frame behind it. It sets the width for the lip to register properly on its edge. It will never be perfect. But that doesn't stop the lip from registering properly. You know if it's right if it's parallel to the flats on the collet holder.
