This star knob. It's a finger trap if not mindful
My South Bend had a similar clutch knob and I can attest that it is an accident waiting to happen.Someone has replaced the factory knurled knob, p/n 11 on the parts sheet, with that star knob. You're right though, that is a finger breaker.
Oooh ok. Well now it makes sense. I'll have to fab a new one as I can not stand this one.Someone has replaced the factory knurled knob, p/n 11 on the parts sheet, with that star knob. You're right though, that is a finger breaker.
I’ve never noticed it as a problem. I guess I’ll have to take a closer look at it.My South Bend had a similar clutch knob and I can attest that it is an accident waiting to happen.
I vaguely recall seeing pictures of it done on a southbend.Oooh ok. Well now it makes sense. I'll have to fab a new one as I can not stand this one.
Has anyone converted a twist knob to a floating locking leaver? Or is that unheard of?
They must.. it takes some mindfulness to not twist up fingers.Perhaps the Brits liked smacking knuckles?
Please if you don't mind! That would be great thank you.Another Dave. You should definitely make a nut like the one I have on my lathe its in my picture above. It turns while its running and the 5 spoked handle would not be something to have pinch your fingers, say right when your going to stop the garage from crashing in to the chuck. I can get you some measurements if your interested.
