Reasonable price for a Myford Lathe

I set up and milled a couple or three foot long sticks of the tool holder blanks, and sliced them off, so now I have a small bucket of them on hand.

haha, been doing exactly the same but a small version for 8mm lathes. Agony for the last two weeks as holding all the bloody little things for deburing with a file triggered at horrible bought of tendonitis

There are few utube 'content creators' that I blanket endorse.

Rob Renz
Clickspring

Rob Renz has imo superior knowledge, I learn when I watch him. Clickspring has superior production, he's a very good cameraman, director, writer and video editor....as well as as bringing an artistic aspect to some of the project. Neither waste a lot of time droning on.....you know, why say something in 3 minutes when you can do so in 28. The rest (myself included lol) don't make the list.

Also note he was too lazy to even grab a tape measure, to see what fit between centers on supposedly, his own lathe... Dude needs fake eyebrows and a big cherry red nose appliance for his clown show.
I'm not sure why you seem to be so deeply offended by that video?!? You do realize it was essentially 'tongue-in-cheek', right?

I don't watch that channel regularly but the guy has produced over 200 videos mostly on model engineering and hobby metal working. For example, he has a 12-video playlist on Tips, Tricks and Mods for the Myford lathe:

I'd cut him some slack.

This is exactly how I feel about MOST YouTube videos. I want my time back!

No, I didn't watch the video. I don't plan to either. I'm just making a general statement about about my feelings on YouTube.

With all the talk about this video I broke down and clicked the link and I suppose it was useful if you were thinking of choosing between a ML7 or a Super 7 but............

Having said that I noticed a link to "The Official Myford Series". The author claims to not have connections to Myford but they let him in to the factory to film & produce what could be pretty good promotional videos. He says that the owners bought the WIP stock and production rights back when Myford folded and resumed production. He also makes the point that most of the parts (except e.g. the DRO display) are made in the UK. The video series was done in 2022 so the info should be current.

There are a couple of things that caught my eye, they have embedded DRO scales in both the cross slide AND the compound. The cross mounts the head in the carriage and doesn't use the finger addition like @Xyphota and I did on our DROs.

Anyhow it's an interesting diversion for the Myford owner.

I bumped into another video that is a look at a Super 7 Connoisseur with some interesting tweaks. Link Again, interesting for the Myford owner and I'm going to look at how to do some of the same mods.

D

That Chronova Engineering video (click the "Link" above) is pretty much what I am (and did!) willing to sit and watch for my own edification. The videography was top notch, the voice work was polished and well thought out, and the talking points matched the video content well. It was direct, and cleanly delivered.

I am not "deeply offended", I am exercising my ability to state my criticisms and preferences. I may go back and see if his other content is any better delivered, but, such is the way with these things, first impressions are not that motivating towards doing so.
I do tend to use YouTube as I use books, if the subject matter, generally, is not put forth in a clear and organized manner, it is not worth the misery, to try to sift out the small gems that may be buried within.

And no, I did NOT see it as a tongue in cheek production, if THAT was his intent, I would assume his comedy career will be short...

You are right of course. I won't even quibble.

But it's a price I'll gladly pay. I'm too old to waste any time on my own trying to wade through the fluff to find the good stuff. Besides, the members of this forum are WAAAYYY better sources of info. Especially after their advice is vetted by the rest of the members.

FWIW, I don't watch TV either.

My favorite source of info is a good text book written by a globally acknowledged expert.
If you have not tried the George H. Thomas Workshop Engineering books yet, I can recommend them unreservedly. https://www.amazon.ca/Engineers-Workshop-Manual-George-Thomas/dp/1857610008
Some translation from British model-engineer-speak may be required, but most of the terminology is pretty easy to grasp. Tying in to the Myford theme, most of the plans and projects are designed around being made on or for, a Myford lathe, though the designs are easily modified if needed to fit other machines.
