The original shelter belt when we moved in 22 years ago was blue spruce, elm, caragana,, willow, lilac, poplar and chokecherry. Since then we've planted more varietals of poplar, Scots pine, more chokecherry, white pine, spruce, maple, Sea buckthorn, jack pine, more caragana, saskatoons, pears, apples, plums, crab apples. I think were up around 8000 so far. Plus all the ornamental stuff around the house and yard. I think we have one or two Russian olives. We have an excellent water supply so I regularly drag around hundreds of feet of 1 1/2 black irrigation line to various parts of the yard, hook it up to a couple of hundred feet of 3/4 inch line studded with sprinkler heads and let'er rip. We've had a lot of timely rain this year but it is common for the irrigation pump to run 24/7 for a couple of months.
Lots or German and Ukrainian names on the R.M. map.
We're only about 45km from Regina so close enough to keep supplied but not so close I can smell it.

Total work space 23 x 21 machine shop and 23 x 39 wood/fab shop. Connected by a 48” wide door.

Picking up insulation tomorrow and then finishing inside!
 
@LenVW - yes indeed the original “shop” was a 40x24 grow op so no windows. I will be adding some after things get sorted.

@Dan Dubeau - thanks! My sons and I pealed back the original siding and wove in the new siding to try and match. Still need to pressure wash to blend better.

@DavidR8 : will see how things settle. My saw mill adds some dynamics to the final “layout” and I need to move a few things to establish a nice level passage on that side. As it sits the “gravel” would let me push in a car.
 
Ok, so the limit of a 2 ton engine hoist has been reached, surpassed and I can honestly say, I blew the balls out of ‘er!! But got the job done! I need to purchase some new wheels ……

This is the sharpener/cutter grinder. Weighs in at over 2000 lb and pretty much did in the engine hoist. Had to move it a few times before deciding on its final location. It will be in the main shop at the back.

Next moves are in the wood shop and getting heat and electricity worked out.
 
Fast update:

Working on all the electrical and heating. So far I have 120Vac outlets, one 240Vac for the band saw, the heat has an outlet and the control system is wired, circ pump etc. I have the LED lights installed. This works great! I will provide a link to the lights. Easy installation and my shop is like working outside on a sunny day! Just need now to run power for the mill, lathes and welder/plasma cutter.

I have another 120Vac circuit to run as well. Pics will be coming… pulling wire sucks by yourself- like using a stairmaster for 10 hours straight- LOL

For the radiant floor I made use of components stripped out of a failed geothermal unit. My controls are crazy $$ but free, LOL as was the pump, expansion tank and some other fittings. My son has to connect the propane and then I will post some pics. So close!!!!

What is this "US" stuff? Speak for yourself. I prefer my cluttered messy shop, and there is no way in Hell either of those two nut cases in snow white sterile empty shops with floors you can lick like a dinner plate, are ever gunna make me feel inadequate. I can't wait for either of them to visit. I have a plan.

......you nutjobs are all so predictable.

Truth be told, I had the vacuum out cleaning mine up some.... It would seem that I had a shop guest move in, little bugger was like having Houdini in the house, the way he could clean out a trap and not trip it...... Luck ran out for the little bugger, I set three traps and could only find two this morning I was probably a good hour finding him.....:cool:
