Your rf30 is basically exactly like mine except nicer in almost every way.

I think I’ll take the route of selling it on kijiji under a fake name and burner account for top dollar so when @JustaDB posts it in the deals section and all you guys roast it for being overpriced and garbage it’s not immediately attributed to me.

Then sell it and buy a knee mill/square column.

All that being said great job on the RF30. I wish mine was nice like that.

That actually happened to me with the ct129 I sold. I just laughed at the Kijiji generals and sold it for every dollar I asked in a few weeks.

Different market area, so the price might not be comparable, but I’ve just finished cleaning up my now surplus CT129 and listing it for sale. If you don’t mind saying, what did you get for your CT129?

Up and running. So much more oomph than my old CT129 mill. Set up the belts for 770 rpm @ 60 Hz, usable range of 300 to 1000 rpm using the vfd. All in including the vfd, dro, 3-phase motor, stand, tach, drill chuck, collet chuck, 220v wiring, freight, various bits & bobs, taxes at $2500. I think I ended up with a pretty good deal over all.

Lots of puttering ahead getting all the wiring dressed properly, making t-nuts, tramming, better lighting, and playing around learning its capabilities.

That's the very best part!

Congrats on the new machine and a fun filled future!

Mine is the same size, not that i use that much table a lot. Had to cobble up a bunch of holders once though, needed a 2 inch long key way on the end of a 6 foot long shaft with auger flighting on it. that took some farmer rigging.

What is it with those augers anyway! They are all junk! I think I have repaired 6 of them in the last 10 years! Ya, getting a shaft up where you can work on them is always a challenge. I still have the adjustable floor cradles (think saw horse) I made to support the far ends! Surprising how often they are needed to work on farm stuff.

Today's adventure. WTF is with the crank handle for head lift on this style of mill? It's useless. If I'm standing in front of the mill, and the crank handle is pointing away from the front of the mill (9:00 position), I'd have to be 8ft tall to reach the handle.

Went to my favourite neighbourhood industrial valve shop and scrounged an 18" diameter valve hand wheel. 30 minutes of fiddling with some scrap tubing to make up a sleeve adapter and now I can raise or lower the mill head without tearing any muscles in my back. Highly recommended.

This is a fantastic idea.

I’ve been avoiding major mods to my rf30 in hopes wifey claus puts a knee mill in my stocking, but alas. I’ve done some improvements to it now. This looks like a great improvement.

Hand wheel is a great mod on the rf30. Definitely one of those what were they thinking things.

I hate to say it, but.
I have 2 of 2.5 gallon buckets of 7/16 x 1.5" Some engineer in Calgary was having a wet dream about a 17 yr old and decided to make all the bolts in the reusable cement forms for the ring road out of 7/16". So when they scrapped all the 1/2 curved steel, I got some and shipped 400lb of brand new bolts for scrap.
I'm not a Ford fan, for years 7/16" was their go to size. But as I build and modify/repair lots of stuff I am finding the buckets level going down.
For instance I used 22 - 1" flange bearings on a job, and the hole size on the flange bearing plate is 7/16, or maybe 17mm. So that sucked up 100 bolts.
