OZ25 collets

Good to hear that Modern actually cares and are making an attempt to improve things. All I ever hope for is for a company/people to TRY instead of being trying!
 
I'll agree to disagree about Modern tool 'caring''. The fact that they sell/include an OZ25 collet set as their 'standard' is clearly a tact to sell a very low cost/high margin product and let the customer figure out what is really standard later. Even Busy Bee, KBC & KMS don't dare sell them...
 
Back to OZ25 and sorry to jump in several years late. I have a set from 1/16 to 1". Collet closer has an MT2 shank.
I got them with a batch of woodworking machine parts. They are a stock item in imperial sized from Leuco. Precision_collets_462E_OZ25

Hope that you've still got them, they're not dogs.

Me too. I have an MT2 Collet holder that fits my 16 speed Delta 1460 wood lathe (1953). I am looking for a few to fill in some missing sizes.

I have a set as well and have no issues with them and found collets on Albaba to fill out the set. The strange thing is that it is an inch set and I also have ER32 collets in metric.
 
Mine are branded KAR - a Canadian company. Leuco stocks imperial sizes, made to a high tolerance (higher than I need for woodworking, but then, I use callipers when milling lumber!). I posted the page earlier in the thread.

I've bought some through various Asian sellers but they are usually metric. However there are some asian sellers that have SAE sizes like 1/8, 1/4, and 1/2" available as I have bought those also but the other suppliers I saw on the web that had imperial/SAE sizes were very expensive
 
My NMTB40 collet chuck is fitted for OZ25 collets, it is branded "STM". It seems to work well, never had an endmill pull out. I've never run a dial on it, I just use it. It came to me on a trade, so there was no cash cost. I'm quite happy with it as I don't otherwise have a collet chuck for the NMTB40 mills. Most of my kit has come to me from the usual "end of the line" sources (Kijiji, auction or diverting someone making a drop off at the scrap dealer) - so I have not standardized on a single/few systems. I think I have 10 different collet systems/sizes - with some intelligent rationalization, one ought to be able to whittle that down to say 5 systems/sizes. However, I work with what I've got and the OZ25 setup has worked fine for me.
 
Accusize offers OZ25 in complete sets (various shanks). Sowa offers a "Type 25" collet - which may be the same? Even Amazon has them.
