Had to make a couple of feet, but got it all sorted in the end.

Now Im thinking about tooling, a buddy gave me some tnmg inserts for my holder. I have a bunch of hss options as well. I started putting a wishlist of tooling into my cart but man does that add up fast. I think Ill try to get by with hss and what I have for a while.

Still happy with having it operational and making chips within a few weeks, thought it would take much longer.

Oh and I have a nice piece of 14ga that would make a perfect backsplash I'm thinking about...

Yeh, yeh, yeh, I think I'm starting to get miffed. I got mine the summer before last and it will probably be at least as long again before it makes a chip. It's not fair. You must have a wife who doesn't dream up new hobbies for you to enjoy.

Looks good

It turn out really nice and you sure didn't waste anytime getting her done.
I didn't noticed it was a gap bed model. Bonus! I take mine out every now and then. Unfortunately I don't have a face plate and use a chuck, which doesn't leave much room in the gap area. I have a spare L0 mount, which is waiting for a donor face plate.
If you need a L0 spindle mount https://cme-tools.com/ have reasonable price and quality.

I once had an Atlas 618 which needed a major clean up similar to yours. Whenever I finished a turning job, I would wipe the ways and the rag would come out really dirty (rusty). I kept cleaning and oiling after every uses and with a few month later the rag was no longer rusty and my ways now look much better, almost new. It was like the rusty grit kept polishing the ways . LOL
