Story time.......

I've had a bad streak of kidney stones. Ended up with a Staghorn stone. Nasty Shit. Look it up. It's worse than you can imagine. Leading up to the required operation, multiple UPTs are required. Often including a camera.

One late December trip to the hospital for an optical UPT, I was laying on the operating table surrounded by a bevy of good looking nurses a nephrologist and an anesthetist. All of us talking about Christmas. They start the drip to put me out, except it didn't put me out!

Instead I see the video screen showing a porn scene. This pretty little hand is grabbing this guy's tool and then the camera starts getting up close and personal. Then they switch to the endoscopic view and I realize that's my parts in the video AND I'M NOT ASLEEP!

I holler out, HEY! I'M NOT ASLEEP! But they ignore me!

So I upped the anti and bellowed out a loud course of "WE THREE KING'S OF ORIENT ARE". That stopped them cold!

He's awake! The anesthetist sees a kink in the drip hose, and I don't remember anything after that.

When I came to, three nurses came in and entertained me with a good round of We Three King's, and then we all laughed about it. They'd never had such a crazy thing happen.

Six months later I was out with my wife and a bunch of her friends from the figure skating club. And I recognized one of them. Nobody could understand why we started singing We Three King's. She didn't say, and neither did I.

I had that same procedure in my mid-30's.. except they didn't put me out. They shot local anesthetic up my urethra... for about 5 seconds it was a combination of freezing cold and shooting pain.

I thought, well what could be worse than that? Well after they put a camera up your dick to look in your bladder they have to take it out too.

The UPT has been on my list a long time... but I forgot to add it to my recent list.

I've actually been sitting on a nice old cast iron faceplate just for my build. I was going to save time and use plumbing fittings but still haven't gotten to it.

Fun fact, one of our CHMW members' name means Pillar

I've heard they don't put you out to look in your bladder. But I doubt they would leave you awake to look in your kidney.

Thankfully, they have never been interested in my bladder. So I've always been put under.

Hurts like hell anyway. It can get MUCH WORSE though. They ended up removing that staghorn stone through my back into my kidney. First they tried from my lower back. Couldn't penetrate my kidney that way. So they went through my ribs. It was the beginning of a year of pure hell.
 
Well, that was an interesting exercise post dinner. Just looked up translations of Pillar in most European languages and a few others. Knew some but not all. A stela though is an inscribed column. Pillar?

I’ve had them done both ways even shattered once by sonics but the worse one was through the pecker afterwords there was 2 fishing lines coming out of the tip, stints they said wait 2 weeks then pull them out! God dam your sweating ready to pass out reeling these things in. I’m still P O’d with the doc.

I've seen photos of a Bonelle or two but always low resolution and poorly lit. From the days when cell phone cameras sucked. But I've never seen on in person, or fiddled with one to see if it is worth the extra effort.

I have a set of plans for the bonelle I downloaded years ago.

Not sure if it is really extra effort. It is purported to be and indeed looks to be a bar stock Quorn. I would think there wouldn't be much difference between machining castings and using bar stock and if you have to make castings it would certainly be more work. Either build though is sure to be a considerable process, unless of course you're Mcgyver :D
