How does the back gear on a mill work?

From what I have heard PM will not even try to help with parts for machines they did not sell. You might have better luck with Grizzly. I've heard that their parts people will go above and beyond to find obscure parts.

I agree, no need for low range with a VFD.

Too bad....... I was hopeful.

Exactly as John says, PM will only sell parts to PM customers for PM machines. Fair enough, its his business. And yes he does check. You might have a chance with Modern Tool if your machine was a dead ringer for what they sell, but suspect risk would be on you if there was variation. I've heard the same about Grizzly actually which is amazing because they have had so many flavors over the years & there can be differences. Good luck.

This is all so disheartening to hear.

Protectionism with products that are basically all Taiwanese Clones....... Go figure. Sad really.

Oh it gets better. I was trying to find motor parts/specs on my Taiwan 935 mill back when I suspected capacitor issues. Had the name tag & serial number in front of me. Nowhere to be found on Internetland. When I spoke with Modern they said they have similar difficulties (related to motors) & they are the distributer for the dang machines. PM mentioned they had a close connection with their factory, sometimes they custom spec certain features that other distributors may not so I suspect reasonable to see all kinds of animals once release to the wild.

I wonder what % proportion of machines a place like H&W services in terms of clones to actual Bridgeports. I would think they have seen enough machines flow through the shop to see some similarities & differences. The videos I watched were predominantly BP's if I recall, but I wonder if they do clones just the same?

Amazing really.....

If I suspected a capacitor problem, I would have called eMotors. They have been awesome to deal with for me. They even have motor specialists that will give you engineering advice even if there is no motor sale in the deal!

I bought the new motor I got for my Hartford from them. It was a damaged in shipment customer return. I haven't been able to find a defect, but I have not actually run it yet.

Also just bought a new fan motor for my airconditioning condenser. Told them the specs I needed and they told me the cheapest replacement. $90 later I had a motor that is working awesome!

Prolly would have cost me 500 to have an HVAC tech replace it.
