Wife says from box of random cut offs she bought when we visited the rock and gem show in Vernon few months ago as she wanted some flavors of rocks that are harder to find local to us. But from what I remember were all cut offs of rocks found in BC
So the top right one and black one are from random cut off box. Top left one is monte lake agate and rest are lawn rocks found when doing stuff around property.
My first sphere I made was also just a random lawn rock that I thought was semi round untill I started to sphere it.

That's good to know, and we try to avoid buying stone as it's more interesting and rewarding to find them. But sometimes it's convenient to buy some stock to experiment with if it's cheap enough as some rocks are too expensive when you can just find them laying around.
But maybe we can meet up sometime could figure out a trade for some as the wife does like the stone. we don't have anything too exciting but maybe something may tickle your fancy.
And I'm always keen to meet new people.

Ocean Picture rock has been around for some years.I'm glad Dan has found some more. It's special. I was always thinking my wife and I should have done some prospecting for it. The original claim had played out. My wife has some from that claim that she got at am estate sale. But not at Dan's prices.

As it goes down the deposit is less oxidized. The brown brecciated listwanite host rock is becoming grey. More intense blue green is coming up much different than the washed out color that was produced in tbe 70's.
The claim was tied up by various mining companies for 40+ years after the original owner Captain Joe died.
They had zero interest in the semi precious stone. If they had extracted and sold it the could have funded a lot of drilling
There is a past producer called the Nancy or Midway mine they were recovering gold values from 1 to 3 oz pt. In the 30's

Hey, that's more information than I have gotten in years with my ears perked.
I really like the Larch material. Its not as brightly colored as OPS but i like it. It's in thin seams but you can still pull out cabable pieces.
The claim belongs to the Kelowna rock club. If any of you want to go there ill organize a trip in early summer. Its 25 mins drive NW of Enderby then about s 15 min walk on a road

I would take you up on that, me and wife plan on joining the Vernon lapidary club in the spring so we can hope on some of there group trips.
Finally got the valves we ordered from Amazon so was able to finish the water system.
Are there any issues with the shaft only being supported towards the centre? What diameter is the shaft? Are the wheels 6" or 8".

I used brass needle valves, brass fittings , copper and plastic tubing. On one of the club ones, a brass fitting just got stripped, my wife told me.
The Vernon club is one of the most active in the province. We have driven up to one of their field trip to the Nickleman (sp) river off the Thompson river for agates . The plateau on top has agates but since the floods washed out the logging road is now pretty inaccessible.
Because BC is geologically active and thus very interesting, rockhounding yields some semi precious stones.

Shaft is 1" and 6" cabbing wheels and no issues just being center supported there was tiny amount of run out on shaft but the cabbing wheels had more run out out of the box.
Wife doesn't have any complaints so far so I don't think a bit of run out is end of world mind you the shaft isn't sticking out any more then a bench grinder style cabbing machine.
Ye I bought a 2" garnet from a fellow in Salmon arm to try to make a sphere out. It was found in Revelstoke area. I want to make a trip out there with wife to find some facetable garnets as the next project is probly gonna be faceting machine.
