External Jaws for a 3 jaw

@trevj EDM sounds like the way to go to add mount systems on jaws. Probably something to investigate later with need as projects arise in the shop and can’t figure out a work around. This Colchester is new to me so I am still finding my way.

@Chipper5783 Thanks for the detailed reply. It sounds fascinating what you came up with, definitely starting from scratch it makes sense to do an interchangeable system.
Creating the interface is a bit of a project all in itself (not hard, just attention to detail). Copy the “American Tongue and Groove” profile, then you can purchase the soft tops ($32USD from Shars for the 10” jaw set) then you only need to do it for once for the lower jaw set.

I think you made the right decision. I hope they fit properly! Let us know how it worked out! Cushman chucks a re very good. Nice catch there.

Thanks @Dabbler unfortunately I have to wait until Jan 4 for delivery according to eBay. So I will post a pic after they are delivered. It is interesting reading through the old Cushman catalogs on Vintage Machinery.

Well the delivery Gods were good to me and received the jaws in record time. I was almost apprehensive to try them, but they magically slid in, engaging perfectly in the scroll, they have less wear than the ones that came with the chuck! I am a happy camper, thanks to everyone who replied.

Nah. The smart money, is gonna be to use what you have, and keep an eye peeled for a decent chuck with reversible jaws! Might not be a bad thing to put out a few feelers among your local suppliers, as well as watching some of the more 'non-consumer' oriented Auction markets. Never know when just the thing, gonna show up outta the mists!

Glad those jaws are a fit! It's a bit of a crapshoot, dealing with used parts like this, but other than being gobsmacked by being billed by FedEx a month AFTER they delivered my package, for a truly stupid amount of brokerage on a tool I bought out of the US, I have had pretty decent luck. Communications and some care in measuring stuff goes a long ways!

Definitely a crap shoot. seller was good and you can tell spent time to accurately measure dimensions. And the $50 US went to $110 Canadian at my door step. But worth it in this case.
