That's amazing. I guess it's not a huge surprise. But I would NOT have guessed they would work on steel. Especially not a full bite the way it works on wood.

One thing I disagree with. They are NOT CHEAP! Especially not in Canada. Anything that eats wood in Canada is expensive. And if you think these are expensive, try renting a beaver let alone trying to buy one.....

Yes, I'm using a Tormach 770-3. Their software is called "Pathpilot" and is essentially a pretty face for LinuxCNC. I believe that GerritV on this group has installed it on a non-Tormach machine and can probably provide the details.

I’ll find it again, but Tom Lipton has a video showing him going to town on a ship’s wheel with a router bit (in a router!)

I watched as much as I could tolerate. I had assumed big cuts like wood. Not so. Slow and steady. Very cool.

I would have cut the outside on the lathe with a custom ground HSS cutter and maybe the inside on the mill. Not sure about the inside. Prolly better to cast it round right up front. But I didn't watch earlier videos - maybe it's all cut from plate.

Amazing to see someone use a router and bit for wood on metal......
