Anycubic Kobra S1 Combo

Hey Dave, can you print without the cloud?
Sure can. There’s a LAN mode that bypasses the cloud.
Can’t use the app to monitor prints in LAN mode but that’s not a big deal for me as I monitor using the slicer

NICE, thanks I'm gonna go to the "one that shall be asked before buying" and see if I can get one. The "one that shall be asked before buying" said that I could get a bambu labs p1s before so hopefully its a yes.

Honestly I think the Kobra S1 is a better deal.
1) the touchscreen is really nice to use.
2) the Ace Pro is an active filament dryer.

Yeah, between the filament drying and the LAN mode those items pushed me over the edge on buying one versus the Bambu P1S combo. If you do buy one, just let the page sit open long enough and a $30 off pop up will show up, or you can just try putting in the discount code CART30 directly without waiting and see if that works.

That's a good price for sure. What's the wait time?
that seems to be a secret. announced June last year, units in review since November, under gag, all the reviewers allowed to post in the past 2 weeks; in pre-order now. I think early units to deliver late March.

I don't quite understand 'Klipper'. Is that firmware installed on the printer itself? Do you still use something like Orcaslicer to convert CAD/solid files to g-code & it talks to Klipper to print? Who is in charge of Wifi communication? Oor send me a link if its easier to read elsewhere. I am but a newborn infant, living in a Bambu walled garden, with strict over controlling parents LOL.

Klipper is the firmware that resides on the printer and is responsible for the motion control of the printer.
Klipper has a choice of two control interfaces, (well three if you include the on-printer screen). Mainsail and Fluidd. Both are web interfaces and are similar but not identical. I prefer Mainsail.
They allow you to upload and monitor your printer as well as configure it to add custom features.
Orcaslicer (or your slicer of choice) is still used to slice the model and create the gcode that Klipper reads and converts into X, Y and Z movements.

Lots more to learn here:

So on your new Kobra S1, is a version of Klipper already installed or you need to download onto USB & boot it on the printer?

It’s running a custom version of Klipper made by Anycubic. Essentially a locked down version.

Nice results. I'll be interested in a longer term review/impressions of it as you put more miles of filament through it, as it's a contender for my money (as soon as I get some...) as a new printer upgrade.

I'm interested in getting more nozzles / hotends for mine for when it shows up so I can use 0.6mm nozzles for stuff like organization trays where I don't care too much about the surface finish and a faster print would be nice, but I can't find it in the Anycubic store? Do you know if its just they are slow to add to the store? Maybe this is the area where Bambu wins... aftersales / aftermarket support?

Au contraire mon frere!

So my mistake was looking at the Anycubic store website, where they aren't even trying to sell these.
Thanks for the link, looks like these accessories are also cheaper than Bambu so that's a win assuming they are good.

I don't understand why they aren't carrying stuff like this on their store.
There's a bunch of folks who have ordered them so I'll watch and see how they get on.
