Back in university I had a summer job working for one of my profs, had the opportunity to take a short course on operating a film type scanning electron microscope. Fun way to spend two weeks & get paid for it.

You do like a guy I knew did, and open your big mouth with a starting bid to get an auction going, only to end up owning the lot!

In his case, it was a half dozen emus, which he got for one dollar! Cost him a whackload in upkeep and feed over the following years, but he refused to just do them in and be done, as, he said, it was a constant reminder, to "Keep my bloody mouth shut!" whenever an auction lot came up that was dragging along at the speed of smell or less....
