Welland Canal in 9 minutes

I crewed on a sail boat once through the Welland Canal, it took about 24 hours iirc. We were taking a boat from Toronto to Tobermory. They crammed us in beside the freighter up by the bow.

Also spend some time traveling the canals of the UK on a narrowboat.

Have you see this guy's series, Cruising the Cut,? He has such nice demeanour, I found them quite relaxing to watch

Yes, he was the one that introduced me to them when I stumbled on his channel during the pandy. I agree the videos are relaxing and enjoyable to watch. I would love to spend a long period of time traveling those canals at some point in my life. A lot of history there, and a trip back in time to a different way of life. I don't have a lot of bucket list travel destinations in the world, I'm a pretty simple guy, but that is one of them. The wife is actually on board with it too. Which is weird, because she hates my boats now lol.

My wife transited the entire Trent canal system as a kid when they brought their sail boat from Georgian Bay to Toronto. IMO not nearly as nice a route because the mast it stepped and you motor the entire route rather than sail.

If I watch that series I'll weep because I have always wanted to live aboard a canal boat and cruise UK canals. As a kid our family friend lived aboard an old converted tug in Toronto harbour. I lived aboard my FIL's boat for a few months at Bluffers one fall.
