I've been shuffling stuff around and reorganizing tools the past few weeks, and managed to consolidate and get rid of an entire toolbox. I gave the smaller bottom box on the right to a younger coworker just starting out his home shop. He was happy, I was happy, good deal for everyone. and I freed up some valuable floor space
Next up was to build a caster frame for bottom box I was keeping. The way the stock casters attach to the sheet metal is terrible with self tapping screws, and this box has already spit a caster and fallen over (hence the missing drawers, they didn't make it....). So I made this quick and dirty cart with better casters on it, and also added a tow ring, if I ever need to wheel it out side I can winch it around (or get it back up the gravel driveway). 2x2x1/4" angle should be plenty strong enough.....
I'm going to weld some angle up the sides, and make some exterior storage on the sides for pliers, prybars etc. I've been needing to do this for a long time, as the old casters were just hanging on, and the box wasn't mobile at all. I also robbed the 2 drawers from the middle cabinet that sat on top of this one. Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet. I might just scrap it, or I might build some doors for it, and use it as a cabinet somewhere.
The two pull out carts under my steps/landing are stock storage as well, and I need to get in there to go shopping for the next couple projects (it has to do with that forge blower seen in a few shots.....) I'm building so this had to get done. One project leads into another around here......I call them barrier projects. I can't do that, until I do this.......Some of you might know exactly what I mean by that.
