I bought a Tig torch, 17F, from Amazon, thinking I could just install it on my welding cable. I used to have a flex head and really liked the options it allowed. The torch that came on my welder is a 26. The fitting in the new torch is much smaller and I am wondering if anyone has adapted a #17 torch to a #26 cable/hose. I realized that I will need to be careful with my welding current as the #17 is rated much less than what the machine can supply. Or do most have a #17 torch hose assembly separate from their larger hose assemblies?
The fitting in the #17 is a machine 3/8"x24 thread. My #26 torch has a typical gas fitting, gland nut I think they are called? About 1/2" in diameter? I did not measure it. I do have an old #26 torch head I could cut up and modify but that seems barbaric. And the assemblies are surprisingly cheap. So my only excuse is curiosity and looking to use it today or tomorrow.
