So I sold my DoAll because it took up too much floor space for the amount I used it. I am sure I will have sellers remorse in a week. That being said what is a good smaller vertical saw? 16-20”. Doeas anyone have experience with the Startrite saws! By the way I’m talking used saws not new.
This is the workhorse I just sold

My god I’d have gave you 5 bucks for that!
There are tons of people on Kijiji, and we call them Kijijidiots. You would have arranged to see it, and never showed. Messaged me with 50 questions. Asked me if I deliver. When you did come to see it, you would have showed up in a Honda CRV with roof racks expecting to strap it down with bungee cords.:D

Looks like it got used a lot, maybe just not sawing :(
I saved this saw from the junk yard. I have had it for 10 years and fixed it up. It runs beautifully, and can cut a 3" block of steel like butter. My small, heated shop is 420 sq ft. which I have a 20"x 80" lathe , 6' brake, 30" shear, pinch rollers, metal shaper, milling machine, radial arm drill, and a surface grinder. My boring mill has to sit in another section of my barn, by itself. So yeah I might use it as a work bench. Sorry.

I love my General metal cutting 14" bandsaw. But my Busy Bee VFD controlled 18" isn't much bigger and is a *lot* more capable.
Thank you, I see General saws for sale used but they look like woodcutting saws. Do they have a gear box to slow them down? I used to have a Rockwell bandsaw and it had a gear box to change to metal cutting. I should have kept it.

No apology needed, I have to clear mine to saw something. They are fabulous saws.

My General 14" is vertical and is on 'permanent loan' in another guy's shop. I have an 18" Busy Bee and a 9X7 ? 9X11? horizontal in my garage.

Yes it is a square box behind and about 4" below the table. It contains a lever that you rotate 180 degrees, one way gives a large reduction - about 8:1, and the other gives pass through. it then has a triple cone pulley for adjusting beyond that.

Built like a tank, lasts forever. But I bought the 18" before I got the 14"

I've got that Jet 14" with the gearbox hear Dab . That was in my latest haul . Very nice as it was brand new . I'm set up for metal and wood at this point and it's the only machine that I can to . :p
