I am going to place an order soon with KBC for misc stuff. I found this thread... https://canadianhobbymetalworkers.com/threads/whats-on-your-tool-want-list.2252/#post-26582 which was interesting. Many of my wants are on it.
But one thing that I have had occasional want for is a slitting saw. There are some good videos about making an arbor for one (Blondiehacks, JoeP, others ) and it looks like a good project to work on my lathe skills. so I am just looking for a saw blade right now.
For a general purpose slitting saw, what is common/recommended?. I see holes from 3/8 up to over 1" The most common size on KBC is 1 " mounting hole. I picture 1/2" but wonder why it is less common. My need has probably been making collars or such, easily gotten around with a hacksaw or cutoff blade but the slitting saw is something I figure I should have at least one of. Any suggestions? Diameter? 3" ? Number of teeth? Mounting hole size? I am thinking HSS of course.... What width?
