not a bad deal, $400 less than BB, $1100 less if you factor in taxes.

@Dusty , they are made in China or Taiwan, but yes, Sharp is a US company, like Grizzly. Sharp has some higher end industrial machines in their lineup as well.

Thanks @dfloen, suspected they were made off shore just by their blockish design although I couldn't find anything on the net to suggest same.

Are their any machines manufactured in North America from quality made parts or is that day long past?
 
Standard Modern lathes are still made in Ontario - Galt at last contact I had with the company. They also made all of the 13" LeBlond lathes - they were customized SM13 lathes with a few extra features, with a noncompete agreement.
 
Not a bad deal for a machine as long as seller is a dealer and it comes with a warranty - its $400 cheaper then BB. Not sure about tax status. It feels its a demo / returned unused by client (claimed). If sold as used without taxes and warranty it is a so - so deal
