That's actually pretty close to me. I might see if I can take a look. I wonder how old it is.

Vintage Machinery doesn't have much on McDougall Lathes and a quick perusal here and on HM didn't turn up much more. I've seen the lathes.co.uk page on McDougall. Perhaps that's one of the German made headstocks that they mention. Does anybody know where else I might find information on them?

I contacted the guy out of curiosity asked him :
How long has it been outside? A, just since it snowed
Do you have a price in mind? , no answer

If you go lets us know if there are other goodies, I'm not that far away.

The seller posted a second add with some different pictures and details. Price on this one is $1200, but that might be a placeholder still. Says it's a 16 inch swing table, which isn't the most clear way to put it. Also that "3 220 volt motor", which I'm taking as 3 phase 220 V motor.

It’s hard to say there isn’t really any evidence of abuse through dropping it could have been laid down for shipping. Has anyone bothered to inquire?

One of pictures in the now three ads for it that I've found shows it in a truck bed (This one). Id guess that it was removed using other than the best of methods.

This is a reply I got a couple weeks ago. I know I lowballed it but wanted to get an initial nego discussion. Not very engaging:
''A hundred bucks I scrap it and make more then that 1000 bucks or it's off to the year'', And that was before the reduced $650 price, Don't think he knows a whole lot about this... Neither do I, The thing is that I"m looking at buying a lathe to beging playing with it. I don't want chinese made small lathe and do not want to spend more thatn 4 to 500 $.

you have a task ahead finding a lathe that meets your budget and that isn't a worn out nag.

Yeah I know. The thing is I want a used one (from a good manufacturer) but that needs to be rebuilt so I can better know and understand it's iinards. I'm in no rush for the moment (as I'm not yet retired...)! I'll revise the budget later on this year.
As well, I already planned on accessories money wise.

Another update on the ads. one of the two $650 ads is now up to $1000, and the other has been taken down. The third ad for $1234 is still up.
