Question on Horizontal mill arbor type

Is there a specific name for this type of arbor mount? It is a MT3 but the top has a square section that locks into the spindle.

Its the type that shouldn't be anywhere near a surface plate, thats all i know.

Mine has the same problem. It's an open surface. I love surfaces. Surfaces sit there calling me to put things on them. So I solved that by putting a sheet of thick plastic on the stone and then a heavy wooden box over both.

It’s a ford-smith. I was just wondering if this was a standard piece or purpose built.
