Yes, I have a few, can't always justify the price for the the amount of use for the really good stuff.
Anyway, went to use my load tester the other day, and no go, volt meter was working, nearly nothing on the amp meter. Very strange. Opened it up, as I thought, wonder if a bad or loose connection. I found a badly corroaded terminal on the carbon core. Removed bolt, a plated? steel one with a very loose fit in the hole. Clean the terminals and put a 1/4 inch bolt and nut in it, a much better fit, a good snug up, start checking for other loose screws etc., there were some. She works dam fine again.
I bought a shrinker, stretcher set the other day, wanted to try them, maybe make life a bit easier as making a panel or 2 for the "A" roadster I am doing bit of work on ( a lot of work). Good thing owner only wants a "rat rod"! Anyway was looking at the die heads, thought kind of strange the split in the dies are not in line with each other. Well, try it anyway, hmm, a lot of work and not much happening. Looking at the unit, thought, not much to it, looked at parts picture, seems simple enough. Pulled the dies out, yes can put the top set in other way round, looks like they will line up better too. Now that works way better. Lots happens with little effort. I guess at assembly point, not paid to check if it might work or line up, and likely not tested either.
I know, you get what you pay for. Sometimes being able to take it back easily is worth a bunch of dollars!
The load tester doesn't owe me anything with the use it has seen over the years, and the stretcher, shrinker all ready is paying off. The few other PA tools I have have generly paid for them selves and more, and if I can fix, repair them to keep them working, all and good! Course that applies to any and all my tools!

Hmnn I better check out my PA shrinker/stretcher. I bought about 5+ years ago and I've used it a bit and it seemed to work okay but I've never used any other so really don't have a reference to know how they shiuld work!
I too ow many Princess Auto tools and for the most part have been happy considering the price I paid for them. Most of the time I could not justify buying real good quality tool but could afford the PA tool and have it be okay. The only thing that I can think of now that I regret was a PA file set. It was cheap I know that but I would buy that set again. I know I've had other stuff from there that was not adequate but they got returned soon after purchase. That's one advantage of PA...their excellent return policy.

i have plenty of princess auto tools, normally the larger stuff

whats a guy to do when he needs the occasional use of something? spend 2000$ or spend 200$ and just work with the quirks

i also have the shrinker/strecher seems to work, but you really need to use thin material for it to do anything, i also have the bead roller...it needs to be beefed up and modified, but i couldn't even buy the dies for what i paid for the whole thing....although i havent figured that one out, seems to be a lot more to bead rolling than meets the eye!

Yup I've got the bead roller too but you HAVE to beef it up if your doing anything thicker than tinfoil.
It's amazing how much strength a simple bead can add to a sheet of steel.

This ain't a glamorous example of what can be done with a bead roller but rather a really simple and easy thing that was worth while. I made a removable cover for a small utility trailer and used just galvanized sheet metal for the exterior. Just a couple of easy simple beads gave the sheets enough rigidity to make it worthwhile.

I bought one of those, the hoist not the dodge. Haven't totally lost my mind yet. Anyway, the hoist was bought to aid in loading critters, dead critters, such as deer and moose. Didn't work for moose at all. For what I paid for the hoist I couldn't build one though, even if I had all the material.

We are a Dodge family, gas or diesel, they treat us well. I brought a front driveshaft into Pat's Driveline to exchange for a rebuilt and he said "no surprise, Dodge stuff never lasts"
I said, you are right, I expected a lot more than a measly 403,000 klicks, I'm pissed off.
The look on his face was enhanced by the Ford cap he wore, and he said "so I guess you must have got a good one"
