New Member Machines

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. I have two metal working machines. First is an Index model 40 milling machine and second is a 12" Logan lathe. Both were restoration projects and are operational. Previously had a Wells-Index model 645 mill but space restriction made me down size to the smaller model 40. The Logan lathe replaced a 12" Atlas/Craftsman lathe which I also restored. I parted with it because I was spooked by all the comments elsewhere about it being "light duty".

I'd like to find a power down for the Index model 40 mill. If anyone knows of one, please contact me.

Do you know if it was ever available as an option or and upgrade?

I'm thinking prolly not. In that case, I think you are prolly better off designing and making something yourself.

Depending on how much you would use it, you might be way better off just getting a power Z drive for it.
