Looking for a corner notcher

I'd love to have one of these for my little box projects and such. They cut a really nice corner that is much more accurate than I can do with tin snips. However, I'm shocked at the price of them for as limited and specific of a task they perform.
Maybe somebody will see a used one for sale somewhere and post a link? Thanks.

They are a great tool for their purpose, we had one in the high school shop where I taught. Granted, my students thought it was a specially made "throwing star making machine," so it needed close monitoring, lol

I've always hoped that somebody made a gizmo that would work with a small arbor press and accomplish the same thing, but I've never seen such a thing yet.

Throwing stars were the journeyman test for using a hacksaw in highschool. If you could cut all the lines perfect you could keep the star...... education has taken many steps backwards IMHO. Safety standards are better (saw stop etc.) but the fear of liability has neutered the next gen.

Back on topic -- DPittman - what would it take to 'make' that device?

Well I imagine a ground hss 90 degree cutting edge on a ram that would glide through a matching hss cutting edge plate on a platform. Many of the larger commercial one can do 14 gauge + sheet metal but I think a small arbor press might be able to handle 22 gauge if the notch didn't get too big?

The last time I tried cutting out a star was at the Calgary Stampede with the bb machine gun!
