Hi everyone, I have an XLO 602 with the original paperwork I bought years ago. I found out it had a repair to the overhead gearbox which was the small gear ( originally made of bronze), this one is steel . It has blue dye on it so it's been replaced ??? The gear seems slightly not right, almost a tight spot I tried to measure or the hole center is out . I finally am retired & have more time to fix stuff. I am looking to buy that gear if anyone knows where I could find one is the best option, if not available does anyone have the correct dimensions, material, pictures etc, so I can try to have one made. I forgot to mention the gear noise changes from a clacking noise unloaded to fairly quiet noise loaded . Thanks very much, glad I joined the group & look forward to hearing back from all the experience on this site. Ron.

Welcome, Loaded gears can and do sound different, especially if too much backlash exists they will slap around.
The tight spot as it rotates does indeed worry me. I do not have specs or dimensions for your gear, but others might. Perhaps even a source for the gear!

Enjoy your stay!

Hey Ron,
Welcome to this group.
I apprenticed at . . . Ex-Cell-O Special Tools Division
You can try Roy (below) he has a shop called ‘Preston Rebuilt Machinery’ in Cambridge.
He used to repair a lot of the 602s in the area, but, recently has focused more on FIRST mills.
He may still have some inventory of XLO parts.
