Pre and post Covid pricing, it seems pretty much everything doubled after the money printing extravaganza.

I use these 1110 Utility boxes all the time, pre covid pricing was <$1. I can still get them for $1 if I purchase from the local mom and pop place where I source electrical stuff. Oh silly me, it's the supply lines thing .... okay got it;-)

I don't shop Grainger cuz anytime I've tried their prices are extremely inflated. I think some of those places cater to businesses that need something when they need it and are not going to be shopping around so they stick them with the price.

For some things I’ve found them expensive but they’re my go to for fasteners that aren’t hardware store off the shelf and a few other odd tools or supplies like ear plugs. For fasteners they usually beat McMaster for less common things and we won’t talk about other fastener suppliers.

Easy to deal with too, none of that business account jazz like some suppliers.

D

Even in my earliest just-got-out-of-school or my new-kid-and-wife-not-working days did I ever need to finance a $4.49 purchase. I guess I was just lucky.

Mobil DTE Heavy Medium
If I recall I searched for this stuff too some years ago, I settled on ISO 68 as an equivalent. I mean yes their product data sheet stipulates its an ISO 68. But the take home here is the
"Kinematic Viscosity @ 100 C" 8.7
"Kinematic Viscosity @ 40 C" 65
"Copper Strip Corrosion, 3 h, 100 C " 1B

Which many or most of those Iso 68 AW oils from local suppliers will suffice.
I don't exactly know how this mobil will compare to some no name ISO 68 in terms of anti foaming capabilities or emulsion ( water separating capabilities )

I also think or assume this Mobil oil will satisfy some special requirements for turbines or other geared compressors, As opposed to your Princessauto iso 68 - Will not!

Not criticizing your purchase, Simply putting this info out there for posterity!

Thanks for posting!

I think the DTE oil may be overkill for my lathe but it is what is recommended in the user manual. Since a 5 gallon pail of ISO 68 hydraulic oil is $90 these days at PA I'm ok with spending an extra $40 for the peace of mind of knowing this oil will protect the machine fully. I change the oil every 2 years and a pail will fill the lathe and my air compressor.

I didn't know PA oil had jumped so much. I would also pay the 40$ difference.
Thanks for the infos!
