A friend was in Greece travelling with friends from the US. They were headed to the airport with one couple headed home to Canada and the other headed to turkey. Out front of their 4 star hotel and loading their cab one gentleman set his backpack down on the ground right beside himself. A very good thief managed to steal the backpack in two seconds right in front of them without their noticing.

The backpack had photo copies of all the fools credit cards, both sides and their passports. Say hello to identity theft. They had two weeks left on their travel itinerary. They had to cancel all their cards immediately.

The story doesn't end there because my friend who was headed home to Canada lent them one of his USD credit cards. The couple was supposed to send it back to him via priority courier. They didn't because they were too cheap and sent it USPS - Canada Post.

Of course, the card was stolen from the regional post office, or in the local postal truck. The CC was packed in a cardboard box so it would not be recognized as a credit card. The only place a card RFID reader could be successfully employed in while in the hands of Canada Post. It had to be local post office because the card was used to rack up over $1000 charges in the local area the morning it was supposed to arrive.

First, dont mail credit cards at all, but if you insist on being so stupid put the thing in a faraday foil sleeve and into a box that cannot be seen as a CC.

postal employees can spot credit cards easier than they can spot cash, and they never seem to fail to find cash you mail.

The good thing about a postal strike is it temporarily interrupts postal employee thefts of mail
