Enough hemming and hawing around. Decided that the AMS and ability to print materials that need hotter temps and enclosures means that my Sovol SV06 with Klipper will be going up for sale. Replaced by a Bambu P1S with AMS.

Congrats. Solid machine, I don't think you'll be disappointed in your choice. I was very close a few times to pulling the trigger on one the past month or so.

I figured that the sale was enough motivation for me.
I also looked at the Sovol SV08 and while it's intriguing as a Voron clone it's not quite polished enough for me. And at $1015CDN with no AMS option the cost doesn't represent good value.

The sale was a good one. I've long wanted to build a Voron, and when you start adding up all the prices of components, you're not far off a P1S anyway, and it works great, right out of the gate. I figure by the time the next black Friday sale starts up mid summer, I should have enough cash to maybe grab one then.

Hey guys. I noticed a lot of you had these cool boats. I've always really wanted one for the longest time. Well I finally found a supplier on Ebay for only $14.99. Well that was USD. And I didn't see the shipping until it was too late, another 18$ there. Crap I bet its being sent UPS, ooh this is going to hurt. But I REALLY want this boat! Kidding of course. I have entered the 3DP rabbit hole of no return. Bambu A1. Its the test print that comes on the card. Now I have to load Bambu Studio & get up to speed so I can unleash my overflowing list of useful shop things.

I too finally got into it in September with the A1 mini. Honestly it is the most fun I have had in a long time! I have put in close to 400 hours printing all kinds of fidget stuff (I didn't realize I liked fidget toys so much!), Halloween and Christmas trinkets and decorations. Then I started finding things I have needed to make/rebuild/design that this opened the doors to. PLA and PETG are very easy to print with this model and is all I have needed so far. It is as mesmerizing to watch it print as it is to watch a fire (frosty beverage in hand of course) IMHO. The ease at which it is to design (Solidworks) to slice and print is scary and so damn satisfying. I didn't buy the AMS Lite but I may in the near future.

If you haven't come to the dark side yet, try one out: the Bambu offerings are the tool and not the hobby of 3D printing at an unbelievable price. It was a no brainer to spend $250 +tax with free shipping. It is what I have been waiting for to start in 3D printing as I don't need to spend countless hours bed leveling, tweaking, upgrading, etc to get successful prints. In fact, the only failed prints I have had are my fault: no brim or I didn't clean the plate. That said, I rarely clean the plate and I have never scraped off a print.

Sorry for hijacking the thread. Did I mention I love my A1 mini???

Thanks for sharing your sickness 'new interest' @Engmaxx Now that its been disclosed you are similar SW & Bambu tribe member, I'll make note for possible future reference or questions. As I wrote in another post, I was after a model I could still use memory card because the printer will eventually reside in my detached shop with questionable WiFi connection. My next step is getting up to speed on Studio. But I'll end it here. The bullet has been bitten LOL.

From the original RepRap of 2004 to today, the machines have become less of a kit build in most cases to turn key. I was looking at many machines and when the Bambu X1C came out I almost hit the button! I didn’t as I ended up wanting and needing a large build envelope. I did end up with the Prusa XL and in either case both machines are pretty good.

You suck

I also finally bought my first 3D printer (A1) this summer! I was waiting for the industry to mature a bit and with better plug-and-play machines (not something I want to fiddle with). I have been too busy to get into 3D printing but ordered one still because of a limited time coupon and had it shipped directly to a friend so they can make use of it. I just got the printer back so looking forward to 2025 where I'll print all sorts of things around the house and for my other hobbies!

I was tempted to get a P1S for ABS but want the workflow to be in my finished basement. Figure I'll get another printer down the road when my garage gets more cleaned up.
