Help Identify lathe

I owe all of you a beer for the help! Last thing, everything appears to work. The only thing that won’t go is the carriage power feed. The cross slide power feed works. Any tips before I tear the apron apart to look.

It should push in and pull out to neutral then pull out one more time maybe the hand wheel isn’t completly engaged rock the hand wheel while trying to slide it

Another thing is with a screw on chuck it is best to cut in the forward turning direction because there is the chance of unscrewing the chuck in reverse.

Tom, is it possible my apron didn’t come equipped with power king feed. That star dial will not push in or push out at all.

That one doesn’t your looking for a round that pulls in and out

Thanks for the picture, definitely do not have that on my apron. Looks like I’ll have to engage half nut for longitudinal feed. Great ...

Ok I just took a look at your pic and it looks like your apron is laid out slightly different than mine I guess with the change gears you can control your feeds so I take it the cross feed is always engaged and operated by the star dial?

Ok I did a bit of reading on one of the links on page one they made 2 styles of aprons simplified and automatic the simplified only came with the cross slide feature.

Thanks Tom, Sounds like a good way of burning through half nuts. Can you still obtain good surface finishes with manually feeding? My first few passes today were absolutely horrendous

I don’t see why not it’s just speed and feed or use the half nut that’s what it was designed for unless it is setup for threading if it can be set up for travel feed you could always turn by hand and finish with the halfnut

Craig you wouldn’t happen to have a milling machine, or know of anyone else in YYC that could do a small job for cash. My new quick change post base needs to get machined down and profiled to match my t slot.

PM sent.

My first go

Is that the same piece of stock as what's in this image?

If so, that's a lot of unsupported stick out for small diameter stock. Try deploying your tail stock. Also ensure your tool height is set correctly. What RPM were you running?
