For Sale/Trade - Dormer E511 M8 x 1.25 spiral point titanium nitride coated taps

TorontoBuilder

Sapientia et Doctrina Stabilitas
Not to steal Don's (@140mower) thunder or gig, but yesterday I bought close to four hundred slightly used M8 x1.25 spiral point taps with the idea that I'd keep about 50 or so to last me the rest of my days, give away, trade and sell the rest.

Pay no attention to the ad I have on kijiji for the non-member types, local member's can get an extension of Don's original deal +1,

That's right, I'll give you 5 taps (sorry all the same type), and you give me a machining related item of similar value which for the sake of argument I'll call $20 CAD. I don't care what the item is, as long as it is usable item. Want more taps, just ask.

I can meet local members at their place of work or homes over the course of the next month or so as I travel to different areas on errands.

Once the postal strike is over I'm happy to open the trades up to any member where we each pay for our own postal of the cheapest type.

Maybe we can set up a group purchase for the Calgary area. Saves you having to individually ship and saves us on shipping.

This would have to be a cash deal. I can e-transfer the funds for the group if we get enough interest and it works for you.

I'd be in for 5. Anyone else in Calgary area?

That would be great.

Yah know if calgary guys meet up you can also put together your trade items and mail me one package too. Either or works for me...

Same applies to any other region with a concentration of members... in fact if we go that route, I'd make it 6 taps per person so people have spares enough to be ham fisted buffoons like me with taps

I do keep about 500 brand new taps of various sizes - would people be interested in these since somehow there is huge interest in M8? Or is it the metric that is drawing a crowd? Don't want to go through my inventory make pictures, post a separate thread just to find out no one cares.

Oh yeah, I love me some taps, especially when they're gotten via trade.

Got any left? I'd take a couple 8mm taps bottoming taps and a couple spiral flute taps

Can't you make bottoming taps from those?

I'm in for another grab of 8mm taps from you too. It can wait for the postal strike to end. It can even wait for a 401 trip.

Nice quality swedish taps tho!

I thought Dormer taps N drills were from S. America?

I wasn't thinking... yes I do believe I can just grind a few down and make them bottoming taps. I rely on you and my friend Brian to have all the clever ideas.

These are old stock Dormer taps from when they made the good stuff in Sweden

I'll put some aside for you.. and make some of them bottoming taps.

ideas of what I really need if you have spares

spotting drills
stub drills
carbide drill bits
cobalt drill bits
other taps sizes
1/4 drive sockets, including 1/4 drive hex bits, square drive bits, and torx bits.

It was a rhetorical question. I make bottoming taps all the time.

First time I ever saw anyone grinding them like that though!

I figured you did... I just like how after you mention that I casually see Robin Renzetti mention it as part of a broader subject of making tiny boring heads.

I've actually seen this video before and the part of making bottoming tap by cutting down a taper tap never stuck with me. It will now.

The same as I've seen many times that harold hall has a accessory and plans for end mill grinding, does both the face and flutes. I only want it for sharpening flutes.

The sad thing is I had so many tidbits and references for such things in a detailed todo projects list, but I archived it and dont reference it enough.
