I was down in my basement poking around on a grossly overcrowded, so-called "work bench", and I moved a bag of garden stuff out of my way...
Under that was a wood box, initially, thought it was an Exacto knife kit... Nope, too heavy! Opened box. Inside was a complete Blake Co-Ax Indicator kit in it's fitted confines! Damn! I have not a single idea as to where or who that came from! I was, till then, pretty sure I did not own one such! LOL!
Main shaft was seized up on dried oil, added some oil and solvent and let it sit a while, gradually got it moving, if sluggishly. Gonna strip it and clean out the remaining dried oil tomorrow, I think, and see how she runs! Found a great YouTube video that covered a full teardown, but the simple part is what I am like to do, which is to drive out one pin, and slide the main center shaft out of it's bushings and clean and re-oil those and the main shaft. The clockworks seems to be working as advertised! Bonus!
But still baffled as hells as to where it came from. Even searched through a couple different email accounts to see if it was mentioned. Not a word! Didn't come from my time in the Military, as it does not have any of the glaringly ugly engraved markings they are so fond of.
Best guess is that it came from the shop of a late friend, via another co-conspirator that was part of that close circle, who suspects that he may have dumped it on me to see if I could fix it, as it was seized.
Funny chit! LOL! Nice, finding good tools in your shop. Be nicer if I had known they were there!
