Well it finally happened the Z axis read head on my lathe DRO gave up the ghost. I confirmed that it was the read head by plugging it into the x axis on the display but no go.
The DRO is a Sino 2 axis , I found a supplier in North Vancouver who had it in stock. The cost was 169.00$ + shipping +taxes. kind of pricy well over 200.00$ delivered. I checked Aliexpress and low and behold found an exact replacement for 40.00$ shipped. I placed the order, the expected delivery was the end of August, a week latter it arrived at my door. Installed it and everything is backup and fully functional. Now what to do with old head, have it repaired or just chuck it. First find someone that can repair it, secondly it has to be done for under the 40.00$ that I paid for a new one. I think shipping would be more than 40.00$. So looks like I'll pack the old one away for possible parts.
