Ever heard of them? Me neither.

Some more in my inbox. Apparently Google knows about things I like to click on

The price of digital measuring instruments keeps dropping via Asia. Sometimes the quality is iffy & you get what you pay for, sometimes they are not bad. The never ending crap shoot.

I have the iGaging one. It works well but I don't use it much as I prefer the old school mechanical ones.

I'm getting pretty gun shy of trying most Asian tooling now without somebody verifying before me that quality is ok. I'm never expecting top quality stuff (in the price range I pay) but I do expect it to be useable and I have gotten some pretty sketchy stuff. On the other hand I've usually been pleased when ordering cheap stuff that someone else has okayed!

I’ll always remember the first time I cut off a piece of 1”x5” aluminum to be 6” long. I used a tape, marked the line, hucked it in the bandsaw and cut it off.

Feeling pretty proud I asked now what?

The shop owner said grab the mic and measure it.

It was 6.197” long if I remember right or thereabouts

He said bring it back when it’s 6.000”

Some of you guys live in a different world, which is ok!! I’m always in awe of any craftsman taking pride in his work. However the world of machinists tolerances is very daunting. Its very unforgiving, but I can understand how some people are attracted to it

For what it's worth, I've been using a Frankford Arsenal DMIC for a couple of years now. Seems to get the job done.

I don't see made in China anywhere on it, but it probably is.

I bought an analog 0-6 insize micrometer set and they are really good for how cheap they are. Also i have some mitutoyo digital mics that have really lousy battery holders. I think the best way to pick the right tool is to see it in person before buying. that being said the Vincia micrometer in the second link looks pretty professional.
