Maybe try contacting the company. They're still in business. A fifty year old business.

 
It looks old, perhaps form early in their business. All the GEM indicators I've seen were very old, I didn't know they were still kickin'
 
Its really hard to date tools as the same tool could be made for decades. Usually there is little reason to.....what matters is condition. Is this one you have, or are you looking to buy it? whats the concern/issue?

No concern, just wanted to know, was in my dad's tool's that I got when he passed.
