Deckel FP3 LG milling machine, $5000, Toronto, ON

Just over 5000 lbs. Not the easiest machine to move, or get off a skid. Bonus: a little tippy too.

But a fascinating and very versatile machine to use. Have some time on a FP3L. Don’t know what makes this a ‘G’ version.

On edit- should have mentioned it’s a non trivial exercise to rebuild a FP3L, and they tend to wear with the column leaning back away from the table.

Looks like a facing lathe. :)

Edit: Google image search, looks like a Zerbst DP 1000, more specifically.

Its funny how similar their architecture is, though one spins a tool and move the work, And the other spins the work and moves the tool.
 
Nice ‘T’ lathe.

Never understood why they exist. Haven’t run a VTL but would imagine they are easier to set up work than a T lathe?

FYI, The 'G' suffix after the L in FP3LG means ''Genauigkeits Maschine'' in German --> Accuracy machine
It's a special toolroom / higher spec precision machine than the FP3L (which is already a highly precise machine as you know)
No info anywhere on the interwebs I could find, had to pull the info out from FPS in Germany who specializes in repowered / refurbished Deckel mills.

Good sized shop- the size I should have built. Are you installing lifting gear? Jib crane/gantry?

Assume you are in the country? Good electric supply? In floor heat?

Would love to see pics!

On edit- I may have missed some, but in roughly 20 years of watching, I’ve only seen three FP3L’s come up for sale in North America. And that includes an older FP2LB (basically an FP3L). Totally understand wanting to snag one, altho I hope it won’t be your only mill?

No lifting rig other than a 2 post mechanic lift or tractor with forks.

Yes In in Québec near Québec city. Living offgrid since 12yrs. Machines runs on generators with vfd's and or rotary phase depending on which one.

In floor radiant heat (gaz boiler).

Might get hydro supply in 1 year. That would change my life for sure but its still going to be 220v 1ph nomather what.

I do have another small mill which is a 3in1 but of good quality if there is such things.

Great for quick and rought setup on the go. Its a manual, hybrid and cnc machine too so thats why a FP3L was fine for me.

That FP3LG is an Aktiv one with 3 powered axis. I already have the CNC controller if I want to convert it later to full CNC (by adding a servo on each one separately)

I spend 10yrs looking each week on google for a Emco Maximat V13 lathe in inches on 208v 3ph. Found it last April. Those are scarce too around here.

Same thing for the Deckel, at least 7-8 yrs looking for a FP2 or FP3, and Ideally a FP3L aktiv, which happends to be just what this one is.

Im gonna receive it near Jan 8, will send pics when landed in my shop.

Lets keep in touch, few Deckel owner around for sure.
