My guess is spindle speed on the horizontal spindle.....

If you look close it has a horizontal spindle that’s likely what they control. Place I worked years ago had a Victoria mill like that. Pretty versatile.

Nifty but certainly they want a pound of flesh, cheaper to buy the horizontal snd vertical machines separately like I did.

Got shown a version of this mill late 1990’s maybe early 2000’s that didn’t have a gib or locking clamps on vertical axis. Got told by salesman it was so accurately machined this wasn’t needed.

Hmmm. Didn’t buy.

Hopefully the machine being sold here has a vertical way gib.

Horizontal spindle is gear driven and those are speed selectors.

Sorry for the duplicate answer there, but I saw the machine in person over the weekend. It is owned and was used by a professional machinist in a one-man prototyping operation for many years. If I understood correctly, they were the second owner, but the first owner didn't use it much. So, basically a machine with a good pedigree and light use by a knowledgable and careful machinist. Looks as sweet as the pictures show. Not sure about wear but it was not abused, is what I'm saying.

I'm told this is now sold. The new home is in a bottling plant so presumably maintenance and more prototyping.
