Crap On Visibly Indicating Devices

Here I wanted to do some more stuff in the shop and maybe even light up the foundry today after picking up Linda from her Half Marathon (2:27 to complete). Instead my sore throat and headache were just a bit worse so I thought I take the test. First time in about 4 years I've had even the slightest indication of the flu.

Oooh no question there! Hope it is slight and quickly over for you. When I had it it really wasn't too bad but I am fully vaccinated and suspect that helped.

So am I except I was due for the Booster on 1st September and decided to wait until the new one came out. I just cancelled my Tuesday appointment for that one since now I have to test negative first. Linda can bring home the flu one later this week and jab me so at least I'll have one of the vaccines.

x2

We haven't stopped wearing our masks when shopping or in close contact with anyone and haven't been sick since this covid thing started. It doesn't hurt that we're retired, don't have kids and there are no little petri dishes running around spreading crap either.
There's a good reason the boosters should be done every 6 months. I pushed it over the edge a little so now I'm paying the price. My wife is a Pharmacist and even if she doesn't get sick due to her vaccines it's still possible she gave it to me after contracting it from her workplace.
Plus I spent almost an hour is a small room with the Veterinarian and two assistants because our dog is ill. Maybe one of them had it in an asymptomatic form.
We still teach Ballroom and Latin dance so maybe there?
Add to that the fact that due to a clerical error my vaccine status was entered in a month after I was given the last booster actually makes me more than 2 months overdue.

I refuse to spend the rest of my life wearing a mask.

Waiting for notification that I can get the new jab. My anecdotal evidence is that if you’re fully vaxed if you get the bug the results are mostly like a nasty cold and not devastating. Various relatives have all come down with it but none needed any heroic measures to get over it, just rest and over-the-counter meds. Take it easy and hope you get well soon.

I got it after 2 vaccines. As a result I wasn't very sick. But my age and my respiratory challenges are not to be ignored. So I remain very careful. Unfortunately, some risk is inevitable.

I'm one of the lucky ones who thus far have not had this nasty virus. I've had every dose of vaccine I've been able to get, four shots thus far if I recall correctly. My wife, who has also had all the current shots did catch it last year through her work and was pretty ill for a week with it and has a lingering cough that requires her to use an inhaler to suppress. It has reduced in frequency for her, but comes up still occasionally. I was in close contact with her for a few days when she first started to feel ill but was testing negative and still I never got sick. I tested repeatedly at that time to be sure and never had symptoms or positive results. I did choose to keep my outside contacts at a minimum just to be sure, including not visiting my Mom who is in long term care, until I was well past the potential time of being infected.

We have not been overly cautious since about trying to avoid contracting it, we've travelled, we've been in large crowds, we've not masked unless required. I will be going in soon to get the next dose as well as my annual flu shot. I have an extended trip to South America coming up and want to ensure the best hope of not interrupting it with illness. My experience tells me that the vaccines work.

I'm on the mend. Also all my jabs. But I was 2 months overdue while my wife was up to date. We now suspect she brought it home with only slight symptoms. Not enough that she even thought to test herself. I know of a couple of people who contracted this virus early before the vaccines were available. One of them, who used to be an avid cyclist, can no longer do it to the extent she used to.

I do believe if I'd gone in at the beginning of August for my latest booster I'd not have been as bad. Or, I have the latest variant and the booster wouldn't have mattered. As it is now I'm scheduled for the 24th for it and the flu shot. Before I had all three pneumonia vaccines I'd suffer worse than I have this week from normal flu. It would go into my lungs and I'd be laid out for 2 weeks. I think this time the COVID tried for my lungs too but was thwarted by the pneumonia vaccines.

I can tell you for a fact that my aerobic capacity has definitely decreased since I had it. :(
I have low RBC counts, hemoglobin and hematocrit levels with no apparent cause. ie. They are all below the norm values. So I already have issues with being out of breath after major exertion. Should be interesting to see if it changes at all post COVID.
