Tool Cathetometer - sounds like a medical device!

Here is an interesting device, called a cathetometer - now a rather vintage piece of kit (I got it years ago when UofA had auctions of surplus odd and unusual items). Another design that is common (well common amongst items whigh are not very common) had additional vertical supports.

I have one of the Titans.. Bought on ebay, was never used, including me.
Why'd I buy it, it was a mystery listed item, not expensive.. I was intrigued by it
Do I need it, no. Will I use it... Unlikely.. Debating what to do with it..

Titan tool supply makes some cool stuff. I have 2 of their centering microscopes..
They are local to me. The guy who owns it very nice, helpful.. Family business he inherited
