bambu slicer and performance

I'm printing with a 0.25mm nozzle on my MK4 prusa. I'm experimenting with printing text and a smaller nozzle was recommended. I also want to change filaments automatically to print text in a contrasting colour. So that got me thinking about the bambu PS1 with 4 filament automated filament changer. I put this model in to the bambu slicer with a 0.2mm model, print time is 3:30 hours. It's 1:45 hours on my MK4. The MK4 is 0.25mm nozzle so a bit larger than the 0.2mm nozzle on the bambu so I expected some slowdown but not double the print time. What's going on? Somebody with a bambu please slice and adivse. It's attached below. I've got an adaptive fill on both slicers, 3 perimeters, PETG, layer height similar at 0.14mm and 0.15 mm on the PRUSA. I do have adaptive layer compensation turned on with the Prusa - I don't see where that is in the bambu slicer.

Pretty odd.

If anyone is considering an A1 Mini or A1, same object at 0.2mm nozzle and PETG print times are:
A1 Mini : 4h:51m
A1: 4h:52m
Carbon: 4h:40m

Switching to PLA, 0.2mm nozzle, print times
P1S: 2H29m
A1 Mini: 2h48m
A1:2h:50m
Carbon: 2h:32m

All these numbers are very close - and I know the Carbon Core XY is a faster printer than the A1 bed slinger. So that does not make sense. I think there is room for tuning and making these numbers better for Bambu.

ok so for bambu you need to use PLA to achieve higher speeds I guess. I think that is known. I wonder what Prusa will do with PLA instead.

Switching to PLA on the Prusa did not change the print times (a few min different). So the Prusa MK4 is faster than any of the bambu printers with PLA or PETG with the model and high detail level I am working on. The nozzle diameter is not the same however so it is not quite (0.25 to 0.2mm) comparing oranges to oranges.

Prusa does not have a 0.2mm profile and bambu does not have a 0.25mm nozzle or profile available. hmm I'll try 0.4mm as that is available on both printers.

Are you printing 2 color on the Bambu? If so, then this is why it takes 2 times longer, It needs to print a purge tower also...

Race results - resliced everything with the same model in the same way.
Conclusion - with PLA and a 0.4mm nozzle the bambu is faster. With PETG and a small nozzle (but not exactly the same size) the Prusa is faster. It really depends on what you are printing, with what nozzle, and what material.

EDIT -> added a Carbon X1 time for comparison.

Are you printing 2 color on the Bambu? If so, then this is why it takes 2 times longer, It needs to print a purge tower also...

No just one colour for these tests.

How bout the Mk4 vs the X1 Carbon with 0.4?

The X1 Carbon is the same speed as the P1S (carbon is a minute slower)

Ive done a bunch of printing with my X1C since Christmas, and usually it is a bit faster than what the slicer estimates. Not a lot though. One other thing i did was made some cable clips, and It was pretty slow on the first print, so i looked at the speeds and it was set very slow. The slicer didn't seem to optimize it correctly. I was able to double the speed and the part looked identical.

How accurate is theoretical time Vs actual? I use Craftware software for the Craftbot printers. It always states X amount of time to print theoretically. Actual is more like X times 2. In a few days I will be switching to Simplify 3D on my printers because it will cover both the Flashforge and Craftbot.. (not suggesting to change) Just wondering if theoretical vs reality is the same ?
