This weekend's project.....

I had this little lathe powered by a vfd and auto transformer sitting on a shelf, didn't really bother me as its just me in shop, but really it should be in an enclosure. Lathe motor is 380V and for a few reasons I did not want to replace it - usually easier to change the electrical signal than the motor. Added fans and a contactor with latching switches. Another Vevor enclosure .... I'm liking Vevor these days :). More 3d printed panel labels ... I sort of put the lettering too close to controls, oh well, too much else to do now, might reprint later.

Unfortunately, I do that too. I know I shouldn't, but familiarity breeds contempt.

I keep looking for the ideal cabinet to do that properly. But they don't seem to hide in the places I have looked. Thats one of the main drivers for me getting a 3D Printer.
 
Nice job. Love the paint job on your lathe, what color/paint is that?

I think I used either the same or similar Vevor enclosure. I decided to cut out a little window so I can see the bling. I'm also using an old 240:24 transformer connected as an auto transformer for 240 to 220V conversion for the ac servo drives.

The Vevor enclosures are great value, especially when you score two for (IIRC) $50 on Kijiji;-)

My wiring is a bit of a rats nest, I was always impressed with how neatly the electricians would wire up panels when I briefly worked for Ontario Hydro, Somehow mine usually turn out looking somewhat sloppy. Primary focus was keeping the noisy wiring clear of the quieter low voltage electronics.

Don't know, it came like that. When i bother to paint, and I do for the cute little machines, my go to colour is RAL 7031, a blue a grey (I use PPG 7 Line). Also use a bunch of talc to take away the gloss. Below are some examples, a 70 I did and traded. Just seems the right one for me. :)

A heart isn't enough. That is a drop dead beautiful colour.

It's prolly a good thing I hate painting or everything in my shop would be that colour.
