You know how people distress furniture to make it look tougher?? I'm thinking he figures it's a piece of furniture since nothing is going to go around or back and forth ever again.

If the oilers are brass they might be good still. And a lot easier to move.
 
He's speaking in the wrong tense. "Does everything from pencil size lead up to 2 feet". No, it "DID everything from pencil size lead up to 2 feet", it won't DO that anymore.

Another antique lost to good intentions. There could be some value in the accessories, faceplates etc, but not at anywhere near that price.
 
I beg to differ. The surface finish on the ways will be excellent for retaining lubricant, and any motor capable of spinning the chuck should be able to take a 0.250” cut in 4130.

And the cost of lays is directly proportional to the value of the person supplying them.
