Acra Turn PC-36

That is a really good deal. Grab it before someone (ahem!) else does!

I missed out on of those on the Island for $2000 and it wasn't nearly as nicely kitted out.

That’s what I thought, seems low risk even if I don’t like it. Trying to get out and see it tonight just waiting to hear back from the seller
I like this plan..... It's like buying a first car, a Toyota is better suited than a Ferrari. Take this one out for a spin, stuff it in the ditch a few times and add a few scratches and dents and when you have that out of your system, go spend the big bucks. In the meantime, have fun and spin a few donuts.

I think just look at the over condition that it's been kept in, does it look like it's seen oil in its lifetime, (you'd be surprised). Turn it on and try each speed if possible......
A quick bed check is to run the carriage up to the headstock to where the tool would be a few inches from the chuck. Gently snug up the carriage lock, just enough to make contact, but not impede movement, now wheel towards the tailstock and see if things get tight. That'll give a rough idea of bed wear........ If most things check out, you have found a pretty good deal that will get you well along on your journey..... Good luck.

Well it looked pretty good to me so I bought it! Just gotta figure out how to get it out of there now, there is only about 6’3” of headroom and some gravel to get past but I’ll find a way.

Time to find a manual for it and do some reading on moving lathes.

Score! On this forum, it’s traditional for forum members to acknowledge someone securing a good deal with a rousing “you suck”
I found another thread where you asked for someone’s email to send them a copy of the manual that you have, would you mind sending it to me as well? I’ll PM you my email.
