I’m a new member here referred by an existing member. I recently listed the Microcut 1340 lathe which sold via member referral.

This milling machine is from the same home workshop as the lathe. It appears to have seen little use, purchased from Modern Tool in Calgary sometime after 2005 but before 2010ish. It appears to share casting details from the Precision Machine brand, therefore likely from the same plant.

Located in Cochrane Alberta, 15 minutes west of Calgary.
$9,500
Single phase 220
3 hp
edit: NMTB 40 spindle
variable speed
9x49 table
x y power feeds
2500 lbs I believe.

Comes with a vice and a minimal amount of tooling, collet chuck and large fly cutter.
$9500

Im not certain my photos are loading correctly. If a prospective buyer would like emailed pictures just message me your email address.
The workshop is quite confined so it was difficult to move other articles out of the way.

Something does not add up - I have similar machine - same color - NMTB40, but all NMTB40 machines that I know off had 5hp motor and a larger table. Also 3500 lbs. Could this be NMTB30? Just remove the business end and see what is there and measure it.

Some common taper dimensions here if a spare tool shank is available to measure.

I should not speak for Modern, but they might be able to provide machine details if provided SR#. Depends if they sold machine as a distributer vs. passed through shop on a trade or whatever. They did that for my 14x40 lathe which was actually a King label before they switched to their own factory direct sources. My brain is foggy on this issue but when I bought my Modern 935 ~2018 I seem to recall the Taiwan models could be somewhat customer configured (within limits). They had 3 mills on the floor then - 935 was smallest, choice of 1P or 3P motor but can't recall if HP varied. Next model had larger table & clearance but I believe same drive head as 935? Whether it had higher HP on same flange mount and/or the beefier spindle taper of what type, I can't say. The largest model I think had different head.

The current PM knee machines look to have common HP/head on 935,949,950.. but larger tables etc. I don't want to confuse matters or derail post, just pointing out they appear to come in different flavors & maybe this evolved over time too.

Tom, outside of MT and R8 this is all new to me. It was a couple years ago but the owner happened to show me the pictured face mill the day he bought it and based on Peter’s link I see the -30, 40, 50 sizes. I had it in my hand a few days ago but never thought to measure. I will be at the mill on Friday and will confirm then.

Edit: I measured the arbor on the 6" face mill and confirm it is NMTB40.

Jim
