They have a tendency to break one of the two curved cast arms. But that's repairable if one has a mill. So the $100 may point to that being the problem. A crack that hasn't completely broken.
 
At that price point, it's a pretty attractive option! Even if you don't really 'need' it!

I used a similar machine while I was overseas on deployment. Found the shear worked very well, and the press brake was a handy option to have too. Someone before me tried to roll some hardened wire, though...

Pretty decent value for the buck, IMO.
